USA - Northeast - Index of book lists

This index of books has been created using EndNote*, a research tool which is capapble of searching thousands of university libraries around the world for books on any topic. Here we have restricted the search to more local Native American topics. The lists may be large and represent only a few Universities in the Northeastern United States. Click on the links below to view the lists, then return to this page for access to the other listings.

  • Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island [+]
  • University of Massachusetts, Boston, Massachusetts [+]
  • University of Maine, Orono, Maine [+]
  • Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire [+]

These lists are not exhaustive of all native and aboriginal literature in the collections of these institutions. There are also many other university Libraries and Public Libraries in the Northeastern portion of the United States which can provide books with information on Native, Aboriginals, and People of First Nations.

Before you set out to visit a museum or go to a Pow Wow, try some reading. A little knowledge will go a long way to undersanding what is going on and deciding which questions to ask to deepen and broaden your quest to know more about the Indigenous peoples of this land.
